Property worth billions of Naira might have been lost to an inferno that broke out early on Monday at the Great Nigeria Insurance House on the Lagos Island area of Lagos State.
The complex is said to accommodate different businesses, including banks.
One person was feared dead and two sustained varying degrees of injuries.
As of the time of filing in this report, no known cause had been identified as the cause of the fire which residents said broke out around 5am.
Not fewer than 12 trucks of water had been deployed to combat the raging inferno which had consumed the first two floors of the 20-storey building.
Among the first callers at the scene are officials of UBA, Union Bank and Julius Berger.
LASEMA and NEMA were also at the scene trying to contain the fire.
Meanwhile, a crowd of people have gathered around the site, which is giving security men great concern.
Around 11am, there was a stampede over fears the building might collapse. Two people were injured.
Another young man was rushed out from the building. He was said to be helping some traders to evacuate their goods.
Efforts were still ongoing to put out the flames.
