EFCC: Two jailed for N125,000 money scam

Justice Kudirat Jose of the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja on Thursday, October 9, 2014, convicted and sentenced the duo of Sunday John Ntephe and Olomosu Kola to one year imprisonment each for conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretence.
The two convicts were arraigned on September 30, 2014 by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on a 2-count charge that bordered on advance fee fraud and obtaining money under false pretence.
The convicts allegedly obtained the sum of N125,000 from one Adetiba Oluwafemi in a money making scam popularly called wash wash.

An African American Passenger travelling to the Dominican Republic was thrown out of a plane after sneezing and jokingly saying he is from Africa. His statement caused Ebola panic among passengers and the airplane crew and caused authorities to isolate the plane for more than an hour on the tarmac.
According to NBC news, as the plane touched down in the Dominican Republic, he sneezed and yelled out, “I’ve been to Africa!,”...

The flight attendants immediately alerted Health officials who came in full protective gear(above) and bundled him out of the plane .
Despite his pleas that he was joking and had never been to Africa, he was whisked away.
He kept yelling "I ain't from Africa. Shit!"as the fellow passengers hurled insults in him.

Imo State To host Nigeria Media Merit Award

Imo State will host the 22nd edition of the Nigeria Media Merit Award, NMMA, the biggest annual media excellence event in Nigeria and Africa, between Friday October, 31 and Sunday, November 2, 2014.

The event, which will take place in the capital city of Owerri, is being sponsored by public and private sectors of Imo State, led by the State Governor Rochas Okorocha. Vincent Maduka, Chairman of NMMA Board of Trustees, expressed his optimism about the successful hosting of the NMMA 2014 in Imo State.
The programme has become the highest focus of media institutions and professionals for recognition and acknowledgement of excellent achievements in the industry, it will be attended by the best of media professionals, veterans and chief executives.

Asari-Dokubo took part in $9.3m arms scandal –APC

The All Progressives Congress says ex-militant, Alhaji Mujaheed Dokubo-Asari, was involved in the $9.3m arms deal which led to the arrest of two Nigerians and an Israeli in South Africa.

The party, therefore, asked President Goodluck Jonathan to explain to Nigerians what Dokubo-Asari was doing on the plane where the money was found and confiscated by the South African authorities.

But Dokubo-Asari had distanced himself from the $9.3m botched arms deal.

The party said this in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on Wednesday.

Paula Patton Files For Divorce From Robin Thicke

Paula Patton has filed for divorce from estranged husband Robin Thicke, the Los Angeles Superior Court confirms to Us Weekly.
Patton and Thicke, who were high school sweethearts married for eight years, separated in Feb. 2014. At the time, a source close to the "Blurred Lines" singer told Us it had "been a long time coming" and that "their marriage was unraveling for a long time.

Ebola: Nigeria Donates $3.5m To Support Countries With the Virus Outbreak

The Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, on Wednesday said Nigeria had donated $3.5m to support countries with Ebola outbreak in other to fight the disease.

The minister also disclosed that 591 health practitioners had also volunteered to join the international force that would go to Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea to help in the containment of the Ebola Virus Disease. God bless Nigeria!

Court sacks Adamawa State acting governor, Orders swearing-in of Ex-Gov’s deputy!

A Federal High Court, Abuja, on Wednesday sacked the acting governor of Adamawa State, Umaru Fintiri and ordered the swearing in of the former Deputy Governor Bala Ngilari as the Adamawa State governor.

The trial Judge, Justice Ademola Adeniyi made the order while delivering judgment on Wednesday, in the a brought before it by the immediate past Adamawa State Deputy Governor Bala Ngilari.

Ngilari had prayed the court to order that he should be to sworn in as the substantive governor of the state following the impeachment of Governor Murtala Nyako on July 15, 2014.

Joshua Fires Nigerians

As investigations into the September 12 collapse of a guest house belonging to the Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN, Ikotun Egbe, Lagos, continues, the founder of the church, Prophet T.B. Joshua, has said Nigerians are killing the country through bad press and negative comments.

Thomas Duncan, the first person to be diagnosed with Ebola in the US has died .Texas Health Resources spokesman Wendell Watson said in a statement.

"It is with profound sadness and heartfelt disappointment that we must inform you of the death of Thomas Eric Duncan this morning at 7:51 am," "We have offered the family our support and condolences at this difficult time."
Duncan, 42, was given the experimental Ebola drug brincidofovir, but his family said he was doing poorly and the hospital had downgraded his condition from serious to critical. When the family visited Tuesday with the Rev. Jesse Jackson, they declined to view him via video link because the last time had been too upsetting.

The Military has arrested 50 persons suspected of vandalising pipelines at Majidun area of Ikorodu in Lagos. About 100 canoes and ferries used by the vandals were recovered at around 7.30p.m. on Saturday.

Over 1,000 jerricans filled with siphoned petroleum product and over 2,000 empty ones were also recovered.

The raid was jointly carried out by personnel of Nigerian Navy and Army after a tip off on activities of pipeline vandals in the area. The operatives stormed the creeks while the vandals were operating, but some of them who could swim, dived into the river and swam away while at least 50 others were apprehended.

Former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd) has said that he has recovered and would soon be back in the country.
General Babangida, who spoke on telephone with journalists at Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu’s Tunga residence in Minna yesterday when General Abdulsalami Abubakar paid the governor a Sallah homage said,”I am now well and will be back to Nigeria very soon.”
He was not however specific on the date of his arrival.
IBB, while speaking through General Abdulsalami’s phone said “I miss all of you, I wish you all Barka de Sallah. I am better now and I will be back in few days’ time.
The two former military leaders normally pay Sallah homage on the state governor annually but this year, General Babangida is currently receiving treatment in a foreign country.
Last week, the state governor sent a delegation from the state to visit the former military president.
